ได้ข่าวว่า Romulus จะต้องเปลี่ยนมือเป็นครั้งแรกครับ
One Owner
An old racing car's appeal, and its value, are inextricably bound up
in it own history. The exploits of a great and ginuine car, and the
personality of the driver who urged it on to more adventurers, are
some how soaked into the machinery to give it an enduring, living
charactore.
Each of the 17 survival original ERAs is worth a prince's ransom, but
incredibly there is one ERA with a dazzling race history that is about
to be sold for the first time.
When the Siamese Prince Birabongse Bhanudej Bhanubandh reached
his 21st birthday in 1935, his 27-year-old cousin Prince Chula Chakrabongse
gave him a new ERA, chassis R2B. The talented Bira embarked on a
busy race schedule, chalking up victories with the car in England and
across Europe. Chula managed the operation with great professionalism
and, in 1936 a second ERA, R5B, was bought.
From then on the two cars, both turned out in Bira's pale blue and yellow
colours, were christened Romulus and Remus after the mythical Roman
twins. A third car, R12C, arrived in '38 and was named Hanuman after the
Hindu god.
In 1938 Remus was sold to Tony Rolt. Post WW2 it ended up with Patrick
Lindsy, whose son Ludovic races it still. As for Hanuman, it was crashed
and later reborn as two cars.
But Romulus, Bira's Favorite, won at Monaco, Picardy and Albi. was second
to win the International Trophy, and raced with honour at Donington and
Dieppe, Berne and the Nurburgring . And Romulus was never sold.
It remained with Bira and the Chula, and passed to Chula's daugther Narisara.
In the 1970s she got Bill Morris to fettle it and later took it to Thailand for
the recreation of the never-held Bangkok Grand Prix. Now 72 years after it
was Bira's 21st birhtday present, she has asked Andrew Hall and Peter
Bradfield to sell it.
Last time I passed their mews emporium in Kensington, this wonderful piece
of motor racing history was sitting on th show-room floor. Beside it was its
original pit board--still carrying the signal in Siamese Script that Chula liked
to use to mystify the opposition.

พี่เป๋าครับ ผมอยากเสนอให้เปิดเป็นกองทุนครับ สำหรับกรณีนี้โดยเฉพาะครับ
โดยหากพี่,พี่บรรณ และพี่ๆผู้ใหญ่ท่านอื่นๆ กรุณาเป็นพ่องาน ผมเชื่อว่าหากมีการดำเนินการเป็นรูปธรรมแล้ว

ผมคิดว่า ถ้าต้องใช้เงินจำนวนมาก ก็คงต้องร่วมด้วยช่วยกัน ครับ
เพราะ บางครั้งก็เกินกำลังที่คนใดคนหนึ่งจะแบกรับเอาไว้ได้

แต่ถ้าใครมีความสนใจจริง ๆ ถ้าเพื่อ Romulus แล้ว
ผมขอขันอาสาคุยกับท่านผู้ใหญ่ในกรมศุลฯให้ได้
อย่างน้อยให้รู้ว่าจะเอาเข้ามาอย่างไรให้ถูกต้อง

เผื่อใครอยากเห็นหน้าตาครับ คันนี้เป็น ERA R12B, Hanuman II, rebuilt หลังจากที่ Hanuman ประสบอุบัติเหตุ
Like his previous ERAs, R12C was christened with a nick-name; 'Hanuman'. The Prince continued the chassis' winning record up into 1939, when he crashed it heavily. He escaped with some minor injuries, but his ERA was badly damaged. With no C-Type chassis available, R12 was once again built up to B-Type specification and from then was known as R12B 'Hanuman II'.

ตอนประมูล MG Magna (รถคันแรกของพระองร์พีระฯ ทรงได้รับจากพระองค์จุล
ตอนครบรอบวันประสูติ 18 ชันษา) เมื่อสองปีก่อน (June 2005)
"The Love of a Royal Racer"
Turned the clock back to 1932, Prince Bira is 18 years old, a pupil at Eton, unsure of whether to go on Cambridge or pursue his dream of being a sculptor: racing was yet to feature in his life. Bira's future wife, Ceril Heycock, first met him there while she was visiting her brother. In her book, The Prince and I, sher recalls: We saw a sports care parked there, an MG Magna--very different from the secondhand MGs my brother and most of his friends owned. This one was painted a deep hyacinth blue, the chromework gleamed and front was decorated with club badges. We went over to examine it and saw that on the dash board there was a small silver plate inscribed with the words "Prince Birabongse".
A picture illustrated Prince Bira in his MG Magna, with subtitle "Prince Bira was given the MG Magna (by Price Chulajakkabongse) for his 18th birthday.
Another pictures show original log book of only two owners from new : Prince Bira's guardian Prince Chula(jakkabongse) and current owner Barry Bone.
*** The MG will be offered for sale by Bonhams (020 7393 3900) www.bonhams.com at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 24, 2005.
This is a good opportunity for a Thai to own back one of Prince Bira's car ... Anyone like to bid on the offer, you have all my support ....!!!!!!

The ex-Bira ERA R5B Remus has been put up for sale by Ludovic Lindsay whose family has owned the car since 1959. Remus has probably the longest racing history of any car having been campaigned continuously - war years apart - since 1936. Originally owned by Prince Bira of Thailand, the car was part of Bira's White Mouse racing team and successor to his previous ERA, Romulus. Lindsay has had a hugely successful career driving Remus, including winning the Patrick Lindsay Trophy at the VSCC GP Itala Trophy meeting last year, but he now feels it is time the car had a new owner

Yes Arjan, E.R.A R2B "Romulus" White Mouse Racing Team
R2B only became "Romulus" after a year in service, when the Thai Royal Family bought
a second E.R.A, R5B. The two became known as Romulus and Remus.
Later E.R.A R12B was added to the racing stable as "Hanuman"....the Monkey warlord.

I have only just finished reading "Bits & Pieces" by Bira.
A lovely little book with some great little stories.
I think i would have love to have met Bira and seen him racing "Romulus".

I met Prince Bira quite a few times in my 24 years in Thailand, and he always wished for it to
remain "at home".
อ่านไปอ่านมามีคนหนึ่งบอกว่าขายไปแล้ว ???
It is my understanding that Romulus has gone to an individual in the United States ...
