ขับตามอยู่แถวถนนพัฒนาการ ช่วงหมู่บ้านเมืองทอง 3 คนขับเป็นลุงแก่ๆ พยายามจะถ่ายรูปด้านข้างก็ไม่มีจังหวะ ได้รูปมาแค่นี้ละครับ พี่ๆน้องๆแถวนี้น่าจะมีคนรู้จักรุ่นนี้มั่ง

คอนเฟิร์มว่าเป็น Oldsmobile Nighty Eight ครับ แต่ปีอะไรขอดูอีกที

สรุปว่าเป็น 1968 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight ครับ

รูปที่3 รถเจ้าของกระทู้คือ E-class W211 ส่วนรูปที่1และ2เป็นMercedes อีกคันที่เป็นรุ่นเก่ากว่านั้น เพราะกระโปรงหน้ายังเรียบอยู่

พอดีอ่านเจอในบางกอก โพสต์ เมื่อวานพอดี ว่า เป็น รถ VW Standard ตามที่ คุณ Starman บอกมาครับ  และได้แนบบทความจาก นสพ. มาด้วย  แต่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษ นะครับ  ต้องรบกวนให้คนอื่นช่วยแปลเป็นไทยด้วย  เพราะไม่ชำนาญครับ

Pipop Pornsangsilp may be Thai, but when it comes to art that doesn't stop him from drawing from cultures not his own

Happy-go-lucky artist Pipop Pornsangsilp and his travel mate, a Volkswagen Standard or `Chow-ad', pictured at a fishing village in Bang Saphan, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Pipop Pornsangsilp's abstract paintings, sculptures and wood carvings are inspired by natural environment. He once worked as an art teacher at International School Bangkok and has travelled extensively around Thailand.

Pipop was born in Nakhon Sawan and takes great pride in his work. Now 61 years old, his travel mate through the years has been a 1942 VW Standard that he calls "Chow-ad".

"Exhibitions come and go, but there is no end to creativity which gets my creative juices flowing. I may be Thai by birth, but when it comes to art I don't belong to any particular country."

Living in a makeshift bamboo house that he calls home on the outskirts of Bangkok, he says going back to nature is the best way to unwind in the stressful environment that people live in these days.

"From my travels around the world, I have found that people have become much more self-centred and materialistic these days. That is why I enjoy spending a lot of my time with Mother Nature, in particular, the tribal people of north Thailand. Modern values have eroded their culture and traditions, but the people there still have an innocent approach to life."

Pipop's work has been exhibited in many countries. He is exceptionally proud of being invited to the "International Artists Contemporary Art Exhibition" in Austria last year.

In Thailand, the bearded artist has also held a number of exhibitions, the latest being "Rhythm of the Heart," which emphasises the spirit of life.

Pipop received a year-long grant from the Institute of International Education (IIE) to study art around the world. According to him, Thailand has much to offer tourists in terms of ecotourism, but he warns against exploitation of this God-given gift.

One of his favourite hideaways is on the island of Krabi. He used to own a bamboo hut near the sea which was washed away by the tsunami last year. Luckily, his life was spared because he had matters to attend to in town.

Art is a form of expression that comes from the heart, says Pipop, so getting the right stimulus is pivotal. Pipop admits that artists are eccentric people. He has however mellowed down since his younger days.

When he is feeling emotionally drained, he takes off for the country side with his closest companion, his Volkswagen Standard or Chow-ad.

"I don't know what I would do without my closest buddy. I have had the Standard with me for about three decades; she has been very faithful to me," Pipop added.

When did your love for the outdoors develop?

Since I can recall, I have always enjoyed camping in the forest. I grew up on a farm, and one of my responsibilities was to tend buffaloes. I derived a lot of pleasure riding them across rice fields. It was only after I became an art student that I began drawing inspiration from nature for my sketches. To this very day I rely on Mother Nature to direct my work.

What was the experience of travelling around the world on an IIE grant like?

The IIE provides grants to budding artists. I was selected from Thailand which in itself was a great joy for me. I was in my early twenties so travelling overseas for the first time was exciting.

The grant was for one year and six months. I was able to visit such great cities such as New Delhi, Beirut, Athens, Rome, Paris, Zurich, London and New York.

บ้านนี้ต้องยกให้เป็นชุมนุมมังกรซ่อนพยัคร์ของจริง.... ขนาดผมเห็นกับตาหลายมุมดูยังไงก็ไม่รู้ว่ารถอะไร เอารูปมาถามแค่ท้ายรถดูกันออกหมดเลย ต้องขอคารวะทุกๆท่านที่ตอบครับผม..

เห็นคนอื่นมาแนะนำตัวกันเรื่อยๆ ยังไม่เคยแนะนำตัวเลย ชื่อหมี อาชีพเป็นวิศวกรครับ ปรึกษาเรื่องรถเรื่องงานได้ครับ ยินดีให้คำแนะนำ (ถ้ารู้นะ)

ยืนยันครับว่า คุณลุงแกขับไปทุกที่ อย่างน้อยผมก็เคยเจอแก ตอนที่ผมไปพักผ่อนที่ อ่าวนาง จ.กระบี่  ช่วงวันหยุดยาว วันเฉลิมฯ-วันรัฐธรรมนูญ  (ธ.ค.2547 ก่อนเกิดสึนามิ หน่อยเดียว คิดย้อนไปแล้วก็เสียวสันหลังทุกครั้งเลย) เจอแกเกือบทุกคืนเลยครับ แกน่ารักจริงๆ วาดรูปก็สวย คุยก็สนุก  ....เดี๋ยวว่าง จะไปหารูปถ่ายรถคุณลุงแกที่หน้าหาดอ่าวนางมาให้ดูครับ
