On Saturday July 22, 2006. Classic Car Association Thailand (CCAT) was invited by Classic Car of Lanna (CCL) to join in for a Mini Classic Car event for the Expats Club meeting in Chiang Mai. More than 10 Classic cars were displayed in front of the Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel on Huey Kaew Road. There were many nice local Classic cars participated in the event. Some of the display cars were VW Karmann Ghia, Austin Mini, Alfa Romeo 1750 & 2000 Gtv, Austin 10, Ford, BMW 520 and Mercedes Benz /8. Khun Pravut who represent CCAT as the Club Secretary drove his 1987 Jaguar XJ6 Series 3 for the event.
CCAT representative was welcome by CCL Secretary, Khun Rex Baggaley and Khun David Hardy and his wife Khun Noi. David who is the Deputy Editor of Good Morning Chiangmai Magazine also CCL co-founder. CCAT representative also met with a few of CCL Board members, Khun Daniel Spector (CCL Data Wrangler) and Khun Cleve Reinhard.
David who have given a 30 minute well presentation with multi-media support, about the founding history of CCL and outlining the process of restoring a classic car to the Expats members. David did also mentioned to the group about the co-operation between the two Clubs both CCATand CCL within the Northern region.
After the meeting Expats Club members did get an opportunity to ride down with Classic cars in convoy from the Orchid Hotel to the Chiengmai Gymkhana Club, the Thailand's oldest Sporting Club, formed in 1898 largely by the Expats, for lunch.
